About SMVA

Secure Media Vault Associates (SMVA) is a network of highly secure Media Vaulting Centers that are specifically designed to protect media from destruction or spoliation. The SMVA Contractors protect back up media for corporations or organizations that seek to develop a high level of business continuity. Proper vaulting at the clients’ site or their offsite storage provider ensures the clientele will maintain business continuity should there be a loss of data, a disaster or other catastrophic event at the client’s data center.

Over 50 members of this elite network employ the same security technology, onsite management presence and security procedures to provide a uniform platform across the country. (See Locator Map)

The backbone of this network is the Listed and Labeled Media Vault Chamber selected by each member of the association.  Each vault is a large scale Class 125 Data Safe which maintains a temperature at precise levels during storage but in a catastrophic fire will not exceed 125º F (52º C.) per full scale laboratory testing. These vaults are provided by FIRELOCK Fireproof Modular Vaults and they were selected as these vaults undergo rigorous laboratory testing for five hours (5) and are still able to deliver a Media Rating.  In order to be Media Rating the vault cannot exceed 125 º for the duration of the fire rating.  As proof of this the vault chambers are awarded a Listing and Label certifying their performance during the test cycle.

This is a radical new approach to records and media protection offered only within the SMVA Network.
